Manchester United are in a bind with David De Gea and have a 'big problem', but will let Angel Di Maria leave. That and more from the Friday papers.

United have 'big problem' over De Gea - Manchester United are in a bind and they now have a serious issue. The Manchester Evening News claim that Sergio Ramos' new contract with Real Madrid has left the Red Devils unsure of what to do with David De Gea. Man United said they would only part with De Gea if they got Ramos in return, but Ramos isn't coming and Louis van Gaal has already admitted that De Gea isn't in the right frame of mind to start the season.

Paper Round's view - Man United's decision to tie De Gea to Ramos was always risky. If Ramos and Real Madrid made up, they'd be stuck with a goalkeeper whose contract is up after the season and with little leverage. Well, that's where they find themselves now, and they're probably either going to have to sell cheap or risk taking him into the last year of his contract.

Di Maria will be a PSG player in next 48 hours - Angel Di Maria is going to Paris Saint-Germain. The Express understand that Man United have accepted a bid of £44m for the Argentine and that the deal will be done as soon as he arrives in Paris to take his medical, as well as sign his contract. Before he leaves, though, Man United are fining Di Maria £360,000 for not going on the club's USA tour.
Paper Round's view - Once Di Maria failed to show for Man United's preseason tour, it became clear that he wanted to leave the club and with PSG's interest, it only seemed like a matter of time before he was sold. Still, it's a surprise that the Red Devils couldn't get closer to £50m for the winger. He had a rough season at Old Trafford, but he's still a top player.

Chelsea ready to bid £30m on Stones - Chelsea desperately want John Stones. The Standard believe that the Blues are willing to spend as much as £30m on the Everton defender. That price still comes in short of Everton's £34m valuation, though, and the Toffees think that interest from Man United might push Chelsea to bid higher.
Paper Round's view - If Stones is sold this summer, it will almost certainly be to Chelsea. If any other club are getting involved, it's just to push the price higher for the Blues. Still, it's unlikely that the deal ends up getting done for £34m. If Chelsea do bid £30m, Everton will have done a great bit of business and should say yes.

Wickham going to Palace - Connor Wickham will join Crystal Palace for a £8m fee, according to The Telegraph. Sunderland signed Wickham to a new contract last season, but had given up on getting the best out of him and were open to offers for the forward. Palace made a move for him and now the England U-21 striker will be heading to Selhurst Park.

Paper Round's view - Wickham looked like a star in waiting after his hot streak helped keep Sunderland from relegation at the end of the 2013/14 season, but it hasn't come to fruition. Part of that could be attributed to Sunderland playing him out wide, instead of his preferred centre forward spot. Palace are going young up front, bringing in Wickham along with Patrick Bamford, so it will be interesting to see how that plays out.

West Ham near deal for Jimenez - West Ham are on the verge of signing Raul Jimenez from Atletico Madrid, according to The Sun. The Hammers will buy the Mexican for £10m, one year after Atleti purchased the striker for £8.5m, as Slaven Bilic continues to rebuild the West Ham squad.
Paper Round's view - Jimenez proved himself as an excellent striker in Liga MX and has been great for Mexico, but struggled in his season at Atleti. He played 21 times for the Spanish side, but only four of those were starts so it was tough to find a rhythm. At 6'3'', Jimenez is a good height, but he's not especially physical. He's better with the ball at his feet and should be a decent fit for what Bilic is trying to turn West Ham into.
