The Standard claim that Spurs are preparing bids for Saido Berahino and Yannick Bolasie as Mauricio Pochettino has been handed funds to aid his team. Berahino is valued at £20 million and Tottenham will open with a £15m bid, while Palace have slapped a £40m price tag on Bolasie in an effort to scare teams off.
Paper Round's view - Both Berahino and Bolasie would be terrific additions to the Tottenham side. They have Harry Kane up top and Christian Eriksen as their playmaker, but no one else stepped up and showed that they can be consistently counted upon. That's why Pochettino is looking for help and Berahino and Bolasie would undoubtedly provide that. But realistically, it's unlikely that they sign both because neither West Brom nor Palace are willing sellers so if they can land one, they'd call it a win.
Ramos to sign new deal at Real Madrid - Manchester United's pursuit of Sergio Ramos appears done. Sources at Real Madrid tell The Mail that Ramos is going to sign a new contract at the club that will keep him at the Bernabeu. Ramos was upset with Real and ready to leave the club, but they've made up and he wants to stay now.
Paper Round's view - The standoff between United and Real made it unlikely that Ramos would end up at Old Trafford. While he may have wanted a move, teams like Real don't make a habit of selling their best defenders. The only thing that could have got this done is Real's bizarre management, but they were too wise this time around and are going to placate Ramos with a new contract.
Newcastle won't pay £15m for Austin - Newcastle are not willing to meet QPR's £15m asking price for Charlie Austin, but The Express understand they will bid £13.5m for the striker. Austin wants to move to Newcastle and a £13.5m transfer fee would be double what QPR paid for him so the Magpies are hopeful this bid will get it done even if it isn't quite what Rangers value him at.

Paper Round's view - It would be insane if Austin spent this next season in the Championship with QPR. Newcastle's bid might be a bit below their valuation, but with Austin wanting out, they don't have an extraordinary amount of leverage. £13.5m is a fair bid and it should be enough to get the deal done, but who knows how stubborn QPR want to be.
Man City and Inter agree to deal for Jovetic - Manchester City have sorted out a Stevan Jovetic loan deal with Inter Milan, including a compulsory purchase agreement, according to The Telegraph. Jovetic will go to Inter on loan for the season, but the Italian club will have to pay £10.25m to purchase him outright after the campaign. There is also a potential £2m more in performance-related clauses, and City will get 20 per cent of any transfer fee if Inter sell him.

Paper Round's view - A loan with a compulsory purchase agreement worked out well for City when they sold Alvarado Negredo. The loan with a guarantee to buy gets City what they want and helps out Inter's finances so it’s a win all around and the sell-on fee is a nice bonus.
Arsenal won't let Chambers go back to Southampton - Calum Chambers won't be going back to Southampton. The Mirror believe that the Saints hoped to take him back on a season-long loan, but Arsene Wenger has rejected the idea of him leaving for any club. He wants to keep Chambers in the squad as a centre-back, with the potential to fill in elsewhere.
Paper Round's view - Chambers has fallen down the Arsenal pecking order so it wouldn't be a surprise if he was looking for a place where he could play more. That said, with his ability to play centre-back, right-back and in midfield, he should still see the pitch a fair bit and the Gunners would be foolish to give up a player whose versatility can be so useful over the course of a long season.
