Manchester City have a chance of getting Kevin De Bruyne, while Manchester United have gouged more money out of PSG, plus more from Wednesday's papers.

Wolfsburg slap £50m price tag on De Bruyne - Kevin De Bruyne is for sale after all, but The Mirror understands that he will only leave Wolfsburg if someone (like Manchester City) pays them £50m for the midfielder. Wolfsburg had called De Bruyne "unsellable" just last week, but that was before he rejected yet another new contract offer. Now, with the player refusing to sign a new contract and making his desire for a Premier League move known, the Germans are open to the idea of letting him go. They will only do so at their price, though.
Paper Round's view - Wolfsburg should be open to selling De Bruyne, but only at an exorbitant price. De Bruyne may not want to sign a new deal, but his current one runs through 2019 so it's not as if Wolfsburg are in danger of losing him for free or on the cheap, plus they offer Champions League football. The good news for Manchester City is that they can afford to pay exorbitant prices - and if they're going to pay it for anyone, De Bruyne is a good target. He's young, proven in a very good league and a midfielder, which is convenient for a team that desperately needs to get better and younger in the midfield.

Everton's John Stones in action against Villarreal

Chelsea to make £30m bid for Stones - Chelsea will make a third bid for John Stones, this time at £30m, according to The Telegraph. Everton have said that they will not sell their prized defender, but they know that they may be forced to if Chelsea are willing to crack the £30m mark and have begun looking at young defenders to buy as a replacement. The Blues have had bids of £20m and £26m rejected already, but they're prepared to go as high as £34m for the man they see getting 30 appearances this season before eventually succeeding John Terry as the club's captain.
Paper Round's view - It's clear that Everton want to keep Stones and for good reason, but there becomes a point where they should take the giant bid being given to them. It's possible that £30m is that point, and £34m certainly is, so they'd be wise to start looking at replacements because it looks like Chelsea will make them an offer they can't refuse. The Blues would be paying a huge amount, but Stones could be the anchor of their defence for the next decade and Chelsea must take a chance on him becoming that.

Argentina's Angel Di Maria celebrates after scoring a goal at the Copa America

Man United have got PSG to pay extra for Di Maria - Louis van Gaal got a little extra from Paris Saint-Germain after Angel Di Maria flew to Qatar. The Mirror believes that Man United were upset when Di Maria flew to Qatar to meet with the PSG's owner, having only given him permission to talk to the club. The Red Devils weren't on great terms with Di Maria after they fined him for not showing up for the team's preseason tour of the USA and after he went to Qatar, they demanded an extra £3m for the Argentine. Apparently PSG paid it, bringing the transfer fee to £46m.
Paper Round's view - It would have been extraordinarily petty if Man United actually refused to do the deal because Di Maria flew to Qatar. That they used it to get an extra £3m in the deal is a good bit of business, though. Their relationship with Di Maria was gone and there weren't other teams lurking to hijack the deal, yet they managed to leverage their fury into some more money. Brilliant.

Javier Hernandez celebrates after scoring the first goal for Real Madrid

West Ham will make new offer for Chicharito - West Ham are ready to come to Manchester United with a £12m bid for Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez, per The Standard. The Hammers already wanted a striker and had bid £8.5m for Chicharito earlier in the summer, but now that Enner Valencia is injured, they're desperate for help up front. The only striker acquisition they have made so far is a loan deal for Raul Jimenez, but they still have a work permit battle on their hands for the Mexican.
Paper Round's view - Chicharito would be a terrific addition to West Ham. His movement in the box is excellent and he does a decent job of helping keep the ball. The Hammers could use him alone up top or, after Valencia regains fitness, with Valencia. £12m is a bit of a steep price for a player with one year left on his contract, especially since Man United have no use for him, but the Hammers are desperate now and the Red Devils know it. West Ham's leverage is gone and they need to get the man they clearly desire.

Nemanja Matic and Victor Wanyama

Southampton hope new contract will keep Wanyama at club - Southampton have opened new contract talks with Victor Wanyama. Sources tell The Mail that the Saints want to sign Wanyama to a new deal so they won't have to sell the midfielder. Wanyama has two years left on his contract and the club are extremely concerned about letting his deal go down any further after they had to sell Nathaniel Clyne this summer because he had just one year left on his contract. Arsenal and Tottenham have been interested in Wanyama before.
Paper Round's view - It is unlikely that Southampton would sell Wanyama this summer, but if they don't sign him to a new deal then he's almost certain to go next summer. He's proven himself to be an excellent player and will just 25 years old next year so there will be plenty of interest in him, especially with only a year left on his deal. That makes it imperative that the Saints get him to sign a new contract and soon. The last thing they want is next summer to start creeping up and teams to let his agent know what kind of deals they'll be ready to offer him.

2014Swansea City's Leon Britton (C, front) is challenged by Crystal Palace's Yannick Bolasie during their English Premier League soccer match at the Liberty Stadium in Swansea

Crystal Palace will not sell Bolasie - Crystal Palace are standing firm in their refusal to sell Yannick Bolasie. The Standard claim that the club are doing all they can to fend off interest in the winger and are confident that he will stay at Selhurst Park. Spurs inquired about Bolasie, but Palace put a £40m price tag on him to scare Tottenham off. Now they feel he will not go anywhere before the transfer window closes.
Paper Round's view - Nobody, not even Palace, think that Bolasie is worth £40m, but that doesn't matter. This is about holding onto Bolasie, not sorting out at what price Palace would sell him. Thus far, only Spurs have shown real interest in the winger and Daniel Levy isn't the type to overpay for anyone so as long as no one else comes calling, Bolasie will stay at Palace. With the price tag they've put on him, odds are that no one else will join the race either.
