Klopp, the former Borussia Dortmund boss, is expected to be unveiled as the new Reds manager before the end of the week, following Brendan Rodgers’ dismissal.
And Lambert, who played for Borussia Dortmund during his career and first crossed paths with Klopp while doing his coaching badges in Germany, has revealed he would be open to assisting his friend in adjusting to the demands of the Premier League.
"Hypothetically, if he picked up the phone and asked what the league was like then I could give him an insight into it," he told The Sun.
“Klopp is a top, top manager, he won’t need too much guidance on a lot of things, he’ll maybe just ask little things about it.
“But if he did pick up the phone or wanted to have a chat if he did get the job, I would meet him."
Lambert is unlikely to be offered a position on Klopp's staff, however, with the German expected to bring in his own trusted lieutenants.
“We did our coaching badges together, he’s really funny to be around, he’s a big character in the game and very infectious - but when it comes to football he’s serious and he’s got a really good backroom staff. He’s a top, top guy," Lambert added.
“When you first go into a job that’s when you’re at your most powerful, and I think he will be saying ‘I’ll come, but only if I get full control’ and I think Liverpool have to say okay, especially if you’re pulling someone as big as him to come to your club to do it.
“He will get the feelgood factor there, he will get that enthusiasm that he generates to the crowd and that will go from the stadium onto the pitch, and that will help the lads run that extra yard.
"Dortmund have a massive fan base so going to Liverpool is not going to change him but he knows the history behind Liverpool, he will know exactly what he’s going to walk in to."
