Kevin De Bruyne, Kelechi Iheanacho, Raheem Sterling and Ilkay Gundogan were on target as City extended their 100 per cent start to the season with a fifth straight win that sees them top the standings by five points.
In comments that will be viewed as a dig at old rival Jose Mourinho's Manchester United, who they toppled 2-1 at Old Trafford a week ago, Guardiola promptly heaped praise on Bournemouth.
It has been a productive week for City, who opened their Champions League campaign with a 4-0 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach on Wednesday. They have won their first eight matches in all competitions, beating their previous best start to a season in 1897-98.
"Bournemouth was until now the best team, who create more problems when they have the ball," said Guardiola. "The other teams play long balls and they want to play and our high pressing was not perfect.
"The important thing is we won just a few days after a Champions League game. The Champions League is tough mentally so to recover from that is something that makes me happy.

“The quality of our players made the difference. I’m very happy because I know the quality of the team we have beat and that (Joshua) King is a quality striker. I’m happy because people will be so proud when the famous players run without the ball.”
Guardiola praised Belgium midfielder Kevin De Bruyne, who scored the opening goal and was involved his side's other three goals in collecting the man of the match award.
"Kevin is a special player," said Guardiola. "Without the ball he’s a fighter and with the ball he’s clear, he sees everything. Every time he decides the right decision and we are lucky to have him. Hopefully he can keep playing the amazing football.
“Of course, he is one of the best there is no doubt about that but to win prizes will depend on the team winning titles."
