"Time to let the world know. My next destination is @manchesterunited" posted the striker, who has retired from international football after Sweden's Euro 2016 exit.
Ibrahimovic, 34, left Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer at the end of the season after four trophy-laden and prolific seasons with the French club.
He scored 156 goals in 180 games, including 38 in 31 league games in 2015-16, and won four league trophies, two French Cups, three league cups and three Trophee des Champions.
Ibrahimovic reunites with Jose Mourinho in Manchester and is the club's second signing of the summer window after Villarreal defender Eric Bailly.
The Swede, who started his career with Malmo in his home country, boasts 13 league titles across spells with Ajax, Juventus, Inter Milan, Barcelona, AC Milan and PSG - although the two he won with Juve were subsequently revoked due to Calciopoli.

Ibrahimovic won the 2008-089 Serie A title with Mourinho at Inter and was glowing in his praise of his new manager at United in his autobiography.
That guy says whatever he wants. I like him. He's the leader of his army. But he cares, too. He would text me all the time at Inter, wondering how I was doing. He's the exact opposite of Pep Guardiola. If Mourinho lights up a room, Guardiola draws the curtains. Mourinho would become a guy I was basically willing to die for.
There was no official confirmation from United, although reporters said they were happy to see Ibrahimovic's tweet.
