Adam Lallana has been ruled out for four weeks after he injured his thigh while on England duty, according to reports.
The former Southampton man played 90 minutes against Lithuania, but did not take part in Liverpool training upon his return to Melwood.
Liverpool face Everton in the Merseyside derby on Saturday and also have doubts over the fitness of Jordan Henderson and Roberto Firmino while Daniel Sturridge remains on the sidelines with a hip injury.
Lallana has played in 27 of Liverpool's 29 Premier League games this season, scoring seven goals, and his absence is likely to be keenly felt as Jurgen Klopp's side look to cement a top-four finish during the remainder of the season.
Liverpool are in fourth place on 56 points, four clear of fifth-placed arch-rivals Manchester United, who have two games in hand in the race for Champions League qualification.
Lallana, 28, has emerged as a key player for both England and Liverpool, and as well as the Everton game could miss games against Bournemouth, Stoke, West Brom and Crystal Palace.
