Arsenal confirm deal to sign Japan forward Takuma Asano

"Takuma is a talented young striker and very much one for the future. He has had an impressive start to his career in Japan and we look forward to him developing over the next couple of years," said Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger on the club's official website.

The deal is subject to medical and international clearance, but the club expect the transfer to be finalised ahead of the new season for Takuma, 21, who is set to be part of Japan's squad for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro next month.

Takuma made his full debut for Japan in August 2015, and has five caps for his country.

He has scored 11 goals and made 56 appearances for Sanfrecce Hiroshima.
