Jamie Vardy led Leicester to a narrow home win against a battling Swansea side amid torrential rain.
Vardy got his goalscoring account for 2016-17 up and running shortly before half-time as he looked to prove that his fine form last season was no fluke.
And he scored as a classic Leicester counter-attack once again paid dividends, with Daniel Amartey, Riyad Mahrez and Danny Drinkwater all combining to set the striker free.
Wes Morgan doubled the champions’ lead shortly into the second half, lashing home from close range; and Mahrez should have given the hosts a three-goal advantage but missed a penalty just before the hour mark.
Kasper Schmeichel went off injured midway through the second half, having picked up a knock when he raced out of the area to take the ball off the toes of Fernando Llorente.
And Leroy Fer gave Swansea hope with a firm header ten minutes before the end – but they could not find a leveler.
The match was played in poor conditions, with a thunderstorm raging above the King Power; by the end the standing water was so noticeable that the ball was failing to run properly and puddles were splashing up as the players ran across the pitch.

TALKING POINT

The weather. Not only was it chucking it down in buckets, but lightning strikes were splitting the sky, and some of the floodlights were knocked out at one point. In some other countries, players have been taken off the pitch for their own safety in similar conditions. When it came to the last 15 minutes, the pitch was approaching unplayable status.

MAN OF THE MATCH

Danny Drinkwater (Leicester). As always, reliable, creative and thoughtful.

KEY MOMENTS

22’ CLOSE! It pings across the face of goal, good cross from Albrighton, and Drinkwater can't get enough of a touch!
31’ GOAL! And it's a goal from Jamie Vardy. Daniel Amartey did well to win that out of defence and give it to Mahrez, who played it on to Drinkwater. He sent the ball through to Jamie Vardy who has the pace and presence to reach that first and knock it home.
44’ SAVE! The rain is pouring now, but that's a good save from Fabianski as Okazaki, soaked to the skin, strikes from range.
52’ GOAL! West Morgan just smacks the ball into the back of the net from close range after the ball pings about for what seems like hours. Swansea need to improve their marking.
56’ PENALTY! Okazaki is brought down in the box by Jordi Amat, and that is a penalty to Leicester.
56’ SAVE! And that's a BRILLIANT double save from Fabianski - a poor penalty from Mahrez, and then Okazaki reacts quickly but the goalkeeper blocks it.
80’ GOAL! Now, that makes the last ten minutes interesting! Leroy Fer nods Barrow's good floated cross in.
