Jose Mourinho believes Manchester United’s first-half performance against Watford was ‘art’ and the team’s best effort in years.
The Manchester United manager saw Juan Mata and Anthony Martial score in a comfortable victory at Old Trafford, with his team dominant in the first period where they tested Heurelho Gomes on numerous occasions.
And the Portuguese manager was asked after the game if it was their best display for years.
"Yeah, not just with me," he joked. "It was very good, it was very good. I think it's the kind of football that, instead of being a Mourinho team, if it's somebody else's team you would say art. But because it's my team you just say it's very good, but that's fine."
Mourinho also said that although his team failed to score a third goal, their tactics won out instead.
"They played very well, the fans understood, they were behind and pushed them and the first half was amazing, second half we score the second goal, we have to kill the game we didn't kill with 3-0 we killed it tactically.
"And we closed the game because Watford is a good team with good players, they can be very direct and dangerous, so we killed the game and a very important victory for us."
