Manchester United want PSG's France star Blaise Matuidi, while Chelsea consider signing Graziano Pelle instead of Alvaro Morata. It's Tuesday's Paper Round.

Man Utd set Twitter a-Blaise with Matuidi approach

Blaise Matuidi is set for a move to Manchester United after being invited to England from France's training camp for talks over a summer switch - reports The Sun. The France midfielder is reported to have flown to Manchester from his national team's base in Clairefontaine to discuss the terms of a proposed £20m move from Paris Saint-Germain. The signing of the midfielder would be as an alternative to Paul Pogba, who is valued at four times the price.

Paper Round's view: This is a fascinating rumour. Should United really be signing a 29-year-old with no Premier League experience for £20m? Probably not. But the Jose Mourinho model isn't about long-term success, and in the here and now there are few better options for United than Matuidi.
The France international would bring the physicality and control that United's midfield group are currently lacking. In fact, he fits much more obviously than Paul Pogba would... and for a fraction of the cost.
It would be a big surprise if the move happened this week with France's Euro 2016 semi-final on the horizon, but with 'super agent' Mino Raiola involved again (after already negotiating Zlatan Ibrahimovic's move) this is rumour that makes an awful lot of sense.

Chelsea eye up Graziano Pelle

Antonio Conte will look to bring Italy striker Pelle to Stamford Bridge if he misses out on Alvaro Morata - reports the Express. Chelsea are attempting to lure Morata away from Real Madrid after the Spanish club opted to enforce their buy-back clause and reclaim the forward from Juventus. But Pelle is seen as a viable alternative if Chelsea's approach for the Spain striker is unsuccessful, with the Blues willing to bid £12m for the Southampton striker.
Paper Round's view: Pelle wouldn't be a bad signing for Chelsea, certainly not as a relatively affordable third-choice option behind Diego Costa and Michy Batshuayi in the pecking order.
But to talk about the Southampton striker as an alternative to Morata is just madness. They are completely different sorts of strikers and would bring entirely different skill-sets to Stamford Bridge, so don't rule out Conte signing both... particularly if Costa decides that London living is no longer for him.
Pelle is not top class, but he's a good focal point for attacks and would be a nice squad player for Conte to have about the place.

Oleksandr Zinchenko makes a huge step up

Manchester City have completed the signing of talented Ukraine international Oleksandr Zinchenko - reports The Guardian. The Ufa winger excelled in the Russian Premier League last season and started all three matches for Ukraine at Euro 2016, despite the strength of the squad in his position. Zinchenko becomes City's fourth signing of the summer, joining Ilkay Gundogan, Nolito and Aaron Mooy at the Etihad.

Paper Round's view: It must be difficult for players like Zinchenko to resist the big move. But joining City has come too soon for the 19-year-old. The winger excelled for Ufa last season, consolidating his enormous potential into consistent displays on either wing. And it was a sign of how highly Zinchenko is rated in Ukraine that he started all three games at Euro 2016.
But he's far from the finished article, is a little predictable at times, and really needs to work on his link-up play. Guardiola is the perfect boss to get the best out of him, but who is he going to displace to get a look-in at first-team level. David Silva, Sergio Aguero, Raheem Sterling, Kevin de Bruyne - these are all vastly more developed players at this stage and it would be a surprise if Zinchenko even got a sniff.
The best case scenario is that the youngster learns and develops behind the scenes at City, maybe getting the odd run-out in the cups before forcing his way into contention a couple of years down the line. But the likelier outcome is that he will get swallowed up by the size of the move and will disappear for a couple of years, wasting a key stage of his career when he desperately needs regular game-time. That second scenario is the biggest problem with City's accumulation of young talent and we can only hope that Zinchenko manages to break the mould.
