Liverpool give up on Keita

We start with The Telegraph, who report that Liverpool have more or less given up on signing midfielder Naby Keita from RB Leipzig this summer. The German side have continuously rejected offers from the Reds and Liverpool reportedly will not go higher than their latest £66 milllion bid. However, next summer Keita's release clause will drop to £48m and Liverpool will return then.
Paper Round's view: Liverpool's frustration is of course ironic given their stance over Barcelona's interest in Philippe Coutinho. Keita would have added a lot to the team but it's better they give in early and try and get another player in rather than end up with nothing when the window shuts.

Wenger adamant Sanchez will stay

We stay with The Telegraph, who carry quotes from Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger reiterating that Alexis Sanchez will stay with the club this summer. Wenger said Sanchez has not asked for leave and the club are under no pressure to sell. He did add however that he was worried that Sanchez may have been tapped up.
Paper Round's view: Wenger's stance is admirable, providing that Sanchez stays. He has said similar things in the past only to see the likes of Samir Nasri, Cesc Fabregas and Robin van Persie all leave. However if Arsenal can keep Sanchez for one more year they could be a real threat in the league next season.

Wenger claims Giroud will stay and fight

Continuing with quotes from Wenger and the Arsenal boss has claimed that striker Olivier Giroud will stay and fight for his place despite the arrival of Alexandre Lacazette. Wenger was full of praise for the way Giroud has reacted following the signing of Lacazette.
Paper Round's view: Giroud has to be careful here because if Lacazette has a good season and he struggles for game time then his new team-mate could usurp him in the France team. Playing regularly at Everton has his perks it's not quite Arsenal. Staying would be a gamble from the forward but for now it could pay off.

Nasri unwanted at City

We end with The Mirror, who report that Samir Nasri is not wanted at Manchester City by Pep Guardiola or the other players because of his arrogant attitude. Nasri knows he is going to be sold and was a surprise inclusion in the City touring squad - but the decision appears to have backfired with reports of his arrogant nature disrupting the squad. However, Nasri is struggling to attract buyers due to his high wages.
Paper Round's view: The strange thing is that up until January, Nasri could have made a pretty good case for being one of the best players in Spain. However his form tailed off and he needs to find a manager who has the patience to unlock more consistency. That probably won't happen with his wage demands though...
