Sturridge wants out at Liverpool

We start with an exclusive from The Mirror, who report that Daniel Sturridge is desperate to leave Liverpool in January in order to get his England place back. Sturridge is hardly playing for Liverpool and was named by England manager Gareth Southgate as a player who needs more game time if he is to make it on the plane to Russia. Sturridge could find himself in demand despite his recent struggles with injury.
Paper Round's view: The problem for Sturridge is where does he go? If Alexis Sanchez leaves then Arsenal could be a possibility but he would have to play with Alexandre Lacazette. A move abroad might be an option but it would be gamble in such an important period for his career.

Van Dijk wanted by City?

Sticking with The Mirror it is reported that the Reds could be challenged for the signature of Virgil van Dijk by Manchester City in January. City have just lost John Stones to injury and manager Pep Guardiola has admitted that the club will have to go into the market in January to find another centre-back. City reportedly wanted a defender before Stones' injury and Southampton may prefer to do business with them.
Paper Round's view: If you were Van Dijk wouldn't you join City? Together with John Stones he could form a formidable partnership at the back and would strengthen City's already impressive title credentials.

Mustafi dismisses exit talk

Moving to The Independent where it is reported that Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi has dismissed the idea that he wanted to leave the club in the summer. Mustafi scored in Saturday's North London derby and angrily hit back at reporters when asked about a possible move to Inter Milan.
Paper Round's view: This is worth checking out just for Mustafi's angry quotes. Ultimately we will never know whether there was anything in the reports but they usually come from somewhere, they don't just appear out of thin air. Still, Arsenal will be thrilled that he is still in their team.

Rose furious with Pochettino

Finally in The Sun there is an exclusive that Danny Rose is furious with Mauricio Pochettino for suggesting that he is not fit enough to start. Pochettino defended not selecting Rose for the North London derby by saying that he wasn't ready but the defender is reportedly unhappy and feels he could have definitely played. The pair's relationship remains frosty.
Paper Round's view: If there's one lesson we've learnt from Pochettino's time at Tottenham Hotspur it's that if you cross him you're out. So many players have been offloaded and it looks like Rose is going to suffer the same fate.
