The club have offered the 23-year-old a new deal thought to be worth £140,000 per week.
And at the end of last season, Lukaku was rumoured to have put in a transfer request, but was persuaded to stay by incoming manager Ronald Koeman, though speculation about his commitment to The Toffees hung over the season.
Currently seventh in the league, and a solid seven points ahead of 8th place West Brom, Everton have flourished under the leadership of Koeman and are realistically in contention for a place in next year’s Europa League.
However, Lukaku remains the star of the show at Goodison Park and would be a welcome addition to a number of bigger clubs where he would be offered the opportunity to play Champions League football.
Though the Belgium international's agent Mino Raiola, who is responsible for the careers of the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba, recently told the press Lukaku was committed to a long-term future with Everton, it has been widely known that the 23-year-old was yet to sign a new contract with the club.
Earlier this week it was reported in the Belgian press that he had decided not to re-sign.
Lukaku is the Premier League’s joint top scorer, along with injured Spurs striker Harry Kane and the Belgian ended last season with 18 goals – the fourth highest tally in the league – though his team finished in mid-table obscurity at 11th place.
