Manchester United suffered their first Premier League defeat of the season after a shock 2-1 loss away to Huddersfield Town.
In a stormy first half, Jose Mourinho’s side dominated possession but created little and were fortunate that Anthony Martial was not shown a second booking for some rash challenges.
And they trailed when Juan Mata gave the ball away and Aaron Mooy struck a well taken first-time effort.
The hosts were in dreamland five minutes later when a blunder from Victor Lindelof, who was on for the injured Phil Jones, allowed Laurent Depoitre to double the Terriers’ lead.
United did not improve much in the second half despite the introduction of Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Marcus Rashford, who pulled a goal back with a header.
But David Wagner’s side held on to climb into 10th spot while United are now five points behind leaders Manchester City, who beat Burnley 3-0.

TALKING POINT

What went wrong for Mourinho’s men? Credit to Huddersfield for the way they defended but this performance was similar to some of the lacklustre United displays from last season. Juan Mata, Jessie Lingard and Henrikh Mkhitaryan provided plenty of effort but Jose Mourinho's side lack a world class and consistent No. 10 to feed Romelu Lukaku and chip in with a fair share of goals. And with games against Chelsea and Tottenham to come in the next few weeks, Mourinho will be hoping Paul Pogba can return from injury soon to provide that injection of creativity.

MAN OF THE MATCH

Christopher Schindler (Huddersfield Town): He was the star for the home side along with skipper Tommy Smith and did not give Romelu Lukaku an inch of space. The German’s positional play from set pieces was impressive and him and the rest of the defence kept their concentration throughout.
