Harry Kane scored a fine header as Tottenham ended their pre-season campaign with an impressive 2-0 win over Juventus at Wembley.
Spurs, who reverted back to a four-man defence following their US tour, dominated the first half against a strong Juve side. And they scored early on courtesy of Kane’s downward header from Kieran Trippier’s pinpoint cross.
But Trippier limped off on 40 minutes after a challenge on Alex Sandro having earlier suffered a knock following a collision with the Brazilian.
Moussa Sissoko was unlucky not to score after hitting the post from distance while the Italian champions' best chance of the half fell to Gonzalo Higuain, who forced Hugo Lloris into a good save.
Spurs doubled their lead in the second half through Christian Eriksen, who rounded Gianluigi Buffon after linking up with Dele Alli.
Kane hit the crossbar from close range, while Juve rattled the woodwork twice in the closing stages through substitutes Juan Cuadrado and Moise Kean as Spurs held on for a comfortable victory.

TALKING POINTS

  • Spurs injury problems mount – Tripper joins Danny Rose, Son Heung-min, Erik Lamela and Georges-Kévin Nkoudo as doubts for the start of the season. That could be the trigger for chairman Daniel Levy to finally splash the cash as Spurs have yet to make a summer signing.
  • Kyler Walker’s replacement could be… Kyle Walker-Peters – Spurs’ first-choice right-back could be the 20-year-old, who looked solid in his defensive duties and when venturing forward after coming on for Trippier in the first half. He was part of England’s World Cup-winning Under-20 squad and could have a big season filling the boots of his namesake who left for Manchester City.
  • Spurs win at Wembley – A key goal for Mauricio Pochettino’s side will be ending their hoodoo at the stadium after last season’s miserable Champions League campaign. And this performance in their new temporary home is the ideal confidence boost in their bid to make Wembley a fortress.
  • Juve are missing Dani Alves – Max Allegri may look enviously at Spurs’ attacking full-backs now Alves has left for Paris St-Germain. Stephan Lichtsteiner is a brilliant defender but not as good going forward.

WHERE NEXT FOR SPURS AND JUVENTUS

Both teams have finished their pre-season friendlies so it’s onto the serious stuff.
Spurs open their Premier League campaign next Sunday against newly promoted Newcastle United, while Juve kick off their Serie A campaign on August 20th against Cagliari.

AS IT HAPPENED

FULL TIME - TOTTENHAM 2-0 JUVENTUS

Spurs end their pre-season campaign on a high after a goal from each half from Kane and Eriksen.
The only sour note was the ankle injury which forced Trippier off.
Spurs give themselves a confidence boost ahead of the new season while Juve have a couple of weeks to get over an error-strewn performance.

90' - TOTTENHAM 2-0 JUVENTUS

Bernadeschi fires in a low drive from 25 yards which is inches wide, Lloris looked to have that covered.
Wimmer and Oakley-Boothe are both on for Spurs.

87' - TOTTENHAM 2-0 JUVENTUS

Juve have a corner. It falls to Quadrado who snatches at the shot from distance and he blazes it over the bar.

85' - TOTTENHAM 2-0 JUVENTUS

Cuadrado rattles the crossbar from a tight angle with Lloris somehow getting his fingertips to the ball. Wonderful save!

81' - TOTTENHAM 2-0 JUVENTUS

Kean side-foots the ball against the crossbar from 12 yards from Dybala's low ball, he was in acres of space and really should have found the net.
That was Juve's best chance of the game. Spurs were not happy that Dybala was not penalised for barging Dier in the buildup.

78' - TOTTENHAM 2-0 JUVENTUS

Good work from Georgiou who beats Barzagli down the left and fires in a good cross across goal.

75' - TOTTENHAM 2-0 JUVENTUS

Janssen is preparing to come on for Kane.
Kean, Bencancur and goalkeeper Pinsoglio are on for the Italian champions.

71' - TOTTENHAM 2-0 JUVENTUS

Vertonghen takes a heavy fall from Cuadrado's challenge but fortunately the Belgian is okay to continue.

68' - TOTTENHAM 2-0 JUVENTUS

De Scilio gets on the end of Cuadrado's cross with an outstretched foot but cannot steer it goalward.

65' - TOTTENHAM 2-0 JUVENTUS

Sissoko and Alli make way for Georgiou and Winks.
The Frenchman has had his bright moments as he looks to make up for a disappointing first season in a Spurs shirt.

61' - TOTTENHAM 2-0 JUVENTUS

It's a triple B substitution for the visitors: Bernardeschi, Benatia and Barzagli are on.

59' - TOTTENHAM 2-0 JUVENTUS

Cuadrado lays the ball to Dybala whose curling effort from a tight angle is turned around the post by Lloris, minutes after the Argentine went close from close range after Costa's cross.

55' - TOTTENHAM 2-0 JUVENTUS

Kane hits the bar! The striker traded passes with Eriksen before lashing a shot from inside the box that had Buffon beaten.
He looked to have been clipped by Chiellini as he took the shot.

52' - GOAL! TOTTENHAM 2-0 JUVENTUS

Eriksen rounds Buffon to score after a fantastic turn and through ball from Alli.

49' - TOTTENHAM 1-0 JUVENTUS

Waker-Peters has looked lively. He trades passes with Kane and sends in a cross towards Alli but is headed away.
Alli has had a very quiet game surprisingly.

47' - TOTTENHAM 1-0 JUVENTUS

Sandro, Lichtsteiner, Mandzukic and Pjanic were the players who were brought off at the break.

45' - TOTTENHAM 1-0 JUVENTUS

Spurs get the second half underway. Juve have brought on Asamoah, De Scilio, Marchisio and Cuadrado.

HALF-TIME

Kane has a shot from inside the area brilliantly blocked by Lichtsteiner.
And that is half-time, Spurs lead 1-0 courtesy of Kane's header.
But the bad news is Trippier limped off with a suspected ankle injury.

43' - TOTTENHAM 1-0 JUVENTUS

Costa is the latest Juve player to squander possession in his own half. Eriksen has a chance to shoot but the Brazilian gets back and atones for his error.

40' - TOTTENHAM 1-0 JUVENTUS

Trippier is limping off after a challenge on Sandro, it looks to be his ankle. He was in a bad way earlier in the game after a collision with the Brazilian. Kyle Walker-Peters is on.

37' - TOTTENHAM 1-0 JUVENTUS

Sandro gives the ball away in a dangerous area, it falls to Alli whose drive from 25 yards flies over the bar.
The army green colour is certainly a fashion statement.

34' - TOTTENHAM 1-0 JUVENTUS

Sissoko hits the post! From a Juve corner, Spurs launch a counter attack and the Frenchman curls a beautiful shot from the edge of the box which hits the inside of the woodwork.

30' - TOTTENHAM 1-0 JUVENTUS

What a comedy of errors. Pjanic's poor back pass is nearly steered in by Kane. It comes out to Eriksen whose cross is missed by Buffon and Kane cannot steer the ball goalward, what a chance.

26' - TOTTENHAM 1-0 JUVENTUS

It's clear to see how much Juve miss Alves' bombing runs along the flank, Lichtsteiner is not in the same mould as an attacking full-back.

22' - TOTTENHAM 1-0 JUVENTUS

Good save from Lloris at his near post to claw away Higuain's shot from inside the area after he brought the ball down well.

20' - TOTTENHAM 1-0 JUVENTUS

The Italians are looking better. Two corners from Dybala, both flicked on from Khedira but there was no one there to get on the end of it.

18' - TOTTENHAM 1-0 JUVENTUS

Mandzukic's crossfield ball is deflected into the path of Dybala, who lines up a side-footed effort from the edge of the box which goes over the bar. Allegri walks off in disgust back to the bench.

15' - TOTTENHAM 1-0 JUVENTUS

A lovely move from the visitors involving Costa and Mandzukic, the cross is floated in from the right but Lloris gathers.

12' - TOTTENHAM 1-0 JUVENTUS

Good save from Buffon to parry a low drive from around 20 yards from Kane, who looks razor sharp.

10' - GOAL! TOTTENHAM 1-0 JUVENTUS

It's that man Kane with a downward header which goes into the corner after a pinpoint first time cross from Trippier on the right.

6' - TOTTENHAM 0-0 JUVENTUS

Trippier appear to have shaken off that knock. It looked a nasty one, he was hitting the ground due to the pain.

4' - TOTTENHAM 0-0 JUVENTUS

Trippier has collided with Sandro and looks to have suffered a left knee injury. He is limping off the field for treatment but looks to be okay to continue.

2' - TOTTENHAM 0-0 JUVENTUS

The hosts begin with a back four, they experimented with a three-man in their US tour which produced mixed results.

KICK OFF!

Referee Martin Atkinson gets the game underway. Both sides are lining up 4-2-3-1. Juventus kick-off.

HERE COME THE TEAMS!

An early talking point is Juve's parrot green shirts, very bold. Spurs go for their traditional white shirts.
