Spurs assistant, Chris Hughton, said: "He had very slight stomach gastritis but we're expecting him to be fit after we assess him."
The North London side are looking for their second away win in the Premiership at Bramall Lane and are boosted by the news that Jermaine Jenas is also set to return from an ankle injury - meaning the Spurs midfield will be at full-strength.
Although Spurs have failed to recapture the league form they showed last season, they are still in the FA Cup and will find out on Friday if they progress in the UEFA Cup with a bye into the last 16.
Feyenoord have appealed against the decision to throw them out of the competition for the crowd trouble at their ground, with the Court of Arbitration for Sport announcing the outcome.
Hughton continued: "As a club and a group of lads there is a real sense of optimism here, that there is still an awful lot to play for this season.
"We haven't delivered yet but that's what we are striving to do. Our development is going towards one direction and every player we bring in is hopefully one who will help us continue to make that progress."
The former Spurs player has been a member of the backroom staff for the last eight managers at White Hart Lane, which included a relegation battle under Christian Gross.
"I've got incredibly good memories here and hopefully an incredible amount of good memories to come.
"A lot of people ask me if I would like to manage one day, the answer is 'yes'. Probably more importantly, there has always seemed a reason for me to be here."
