Real have followed in the footsteps of clubs such as Bayern Munich and Celtic, who this week pledged to provide help to people affected by the refugee crisis.
A statement on the club's website read: "Faithful to its commitment to charity, the club has taken this decision with the aim of supporting men, women and children who have been forced to leave their homes in order to flee from war and death.
"The president of Real Madrid, Florentino Perez, spoke (on Friday) by phone with the president of the Government, Mariano Rajoy. The pair talked about this contribution and other measures that the club will put in place in order to collaborate with the care of refugees that arrive in Spain."
Football’s support for the refugee crisis shows no sign of abating after Porto and Real Madrid became the latest clubs to pledge help.
The Portuguese giants urged their fellow Champions League competitors to back their initiative and donate one euro per ticket sold for the first two rounds of the tournament – allowing each club to gather gate receipts at one match.
In a letter to UEFA president Michel Platini, the club said it was “impossible to close our eyes to the drama of the migrants and refugees that are trying to enter in the European soil.”
They signed off with the line: “Let’s play for the migrants!”
Porto will kick-start the campaign in their match against Chelsea on September 29.
Such an initiative could raise in excess of one million euros if backed by all 32 clubs.
