Romania's Chipchiu to miss Faroes game due to injury

Romania midfielder Alexandru Chipciu will miss the Euro 2016 Group F qualifier against the Faroe Islands on Sunday due to a thigh injury, the country's football federation (FRF) said on Friday.

Unbeaten Romania top the standings with 10 points from four games followed by Northern Ireland on nine. The Faroes are fifth with four points.

The Faroe Islanders, who beat Greece 1-0 in Athens in November to record a rare win in a competitive match, arrived in Romania without two of their most influential players.

Captain Frodi Benjaminsen will miss the game in Ploiesti after starting a career as a prison guard and fellow midfielder Hallur Hansson is suspended.
