Schalke 04 sporting director confirms Leroy Sane has asked to leave

The 20-year-old has been linked with a move to English Premier League side Manchester City by British and German media, as well as Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.

Sane was part of Germany's squad at Euro 2016. He scored eight league goals and grabbed six assists for Schalke last season as the club finished fifth in the standings.

"Leroy has made it clear, he would like to leave this summer. We will consent to a transfer if Schalke's conditions are met," Heidel told Sky Sports.

Speaking to German newspaper Bild he added: "I can not confirm that the deal is in the final phase. That would mean that he could be gone tomorrow or the next day."

With Bayern boss Carlo Ancelotti apparently ruling his club out as Sane's possible suitors, recently, City would seem to be the front-runners in any bid for the youngster, for whom Schalke are thought to be looking for a fee of around €50 million .
