WATCH: Scott Sinclair hits Celtic winner at Hearts only hours after signing

The former Swansea, Manchester City and Aston Villa winger produced a lovely finish from a Leigh Griffiths pass on 81 minutes at Tynecastle after a sweeping counter attack to seal three points for Brendan Rodgers' side, who were at the time under the cosh against a vibrant Edinburgh side.

According to reports, Sinclair left Villa to sign a four-year contract in Glasgow at 10.17am before scoring the winning goal at 15.52pm in Edinburgh in what was a frantic day for Celtic's latest signing under Rodgers, who joins Moussa Dembele from Fulham and free agent Kolo Toure at the club.

Celtic had taken the lead when James Forrest curled the ball into the net on eight minutes before Hearts equalised minutes before half-time via Jamie Walker's penalty after referee John Beaton had deemed Kieran Tierney to have committed a foul on Walker. Replays later showed there was no contact.

Elsewhere, former Celtic forward Tony Watt should have equalised prior to Walker's goal when he headed wide of an open goal from only two yards out as Hearts were left to rue failing to pick up at least a draw from a match in which they produced an impressive shift.

Elsewhere on Sunday, Aberdeen were held to a 0-0 draw by St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park in their opening match of the season.

Celtic are already two points clear of traditional Glasgow rivals Rangers, who were held to a 1-1 draw by Hamilton on Saturday in their first match back in the Scottish Premiership since they were liquidated in 2012.
