The Brazilian, who only joined City last summer from Inter, arrived at Fiumicino airport at around 7am this morning.
The right-back will undergo his medical this afternoon before linking up with his new team-mates in their pre-season retreat of Riscone.
The 31-year-old, who started just four Premier League games last term, is expected to sign a two-year contract at the Stadio Olimpico.
Emanuele Giaccherini is just an announcement away from completing a move from Juventus to Sunderland.
The Azzurri international arrived at the English club’s Italian summer training base of Peschiera del Garga this afternoon.
The two sides are understood to have agreed a transfer fee in the region of €8m for the versatile midfielder.
Giaccherini, 28, joined the Turin giants in 2011 from Cesena. Originally signed on a co-ownership for €3m, Juve paid a further €4.25m a year later to net him outright.
Juventus’ Mauricio Isla will be an Inter player by the end of the week, reports the Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Chilean international is part-owned by the Bianconeri with Udinese following his move to Turin last summer.
However, after struggling to make an impact following his comeback from injury, the Old Lady are expected to sell their half.
Inter had initially offered the Italian champions €6m for their 50 per cent share, but Juve asked for €7.5m instead.
It is understood that a compromise has been reached with a figure of around €6.8m agreed between the two sides.
It is being claimed that Isla could join up with the Nerazzurri at their Pinzolo training base as soon as Wednesday.
French outfit Monaco are expected to sign Siena goalkeeper Gianluca Pegolo following the club’s relegation from Serie A.
Sky Sport Italia are claiming that the 32-year-old, who is contracted with the Tuscan side until June 2013, will complete the move over the next 48 hours.
Monaco, back in Ligue 1, are bossed by Italian tactician Claudio Ranieri.
The former Italian Under-21 international joined Siena in 2009 after spells at clubs such as Verona, Genoa and Parma.
The agent of Guido Marilungo has thanked Atalanta for their show of belief in the player following his injury nightmare.
The Bergamo club have extended the contract of the former Italian Under-21 international until June 2017.
They made such a move after the almost 24-year-old seriously damaged the same knee ligaments in March and November 2012.
“I thank the Percassi family and director general Pierpaolo Marino for the sensitivity shown at this time,” Silvio Pagliari told playermanagement.eu.
“To extend the contract of a player who has been sidelined for an extended period is synonymous of great gentlemen.
“Guido is training with the squad and will do his very best in order to repay their trust in him.”
Marilungo featured in just two Serie A games last term for a total of only 46 minutes.
Cagliari are ready to sell Radja Nainggolan, but only if a club digs deep enough into their pockets for his services.
The Belgium international is a known transfer target for Inter and Roma, while there are also sides abroad who are interested in his signature.
“We have received a bid for Nainggolan, but we did not deem it to be good enough,” sporting director Nicola Salerno told Radio Sportiva.
“I can confirm that Inter and Roma are interested, but we will only accept an offer which will be impossible to refuse.”
Fabrizio Miccoli will play in the Lega Pro next season after reportedly accepting an offer from hometown club Lecce.
Sky Sport Italia are claiming that the forward, who is available on a free transfer after his Palermo contract expired, has opted for a switch to the Stadio Via Del Mare.
The former Italian international, now 34, has always admitted a desire to play for the Giallorossi before retiring.
The former Juventus and Fiorentina forward, who was wanted in Australia, is expected to sign a one-year contract.
Argentine outfit Velez Sarsfield have announced that they have agreed to sign Lazio outcast Mauro Zarate.
The club have stated that they agreed terms for the 26-year-old on Sunday and they are close to making the switch official.
The forward is actually a product of Velez’s youth system who left them in 2007 in favour of a switch to Al-Sadd.
The South American joined Lazio in 2008, but he’s had his problems in recent years at the Stadio Olimpico.
He was used in just one Serie A game last term following a year on loan at Inter.
FIFA agent Ernesto Bronzetti expects Milan to complete a major signing before the transfer window closes.
The Rossoneri have suggested that Sampdoria midfielder Andrea Poli will be their last signing of the summer, but Bronzetti isn’t so sure.
“Milan will do something important,” the representative told the Corriere dello Sport in an interview on Monday.
“Vice-President Adriano Galliani always delivers a surprise,” Bronzetti continued. “I am expecting something.
“He may not have the funds that he had in the past, but he has a lot of imagination.”
Turkish club Bursaspor have confirmed the signing of Sebastien Frey from Serie A outfit Genoa.
The Frenchman has, as expected, put pen to paper on a three-year deal with his new team.
Frey leaves Italy 15 years after arriving. He’s also played for Inter, Verona, Parma and Fiorentina in Serie A.
The goalkeeper is now 33.
Milan chief Adriano Galliani has warned fans to not expect the imminent arrivals of Adem Ljajic and Keisuke Honda.
The two players have been linked with the Rossoneri this summer, but the vice-president is remaining cautious.
“Honda and Ljajic are different cases,” the official told Sky Sport Italia.
“Ljajic is not possible because Robinho hasn’t left, while there is a good chance that Honda can arrive in January and so we’ll wait for him then.”
The Japanese midfielder could be signed on a free transfer at the start of next year seeing as his CSKA Moscow contract expires at the end of December.
Serbia international forward Ljajic, meanwhile, has 12 months left on his agreement with Fiorentina.
Robinho was being heavily linked with a return to former club Santos, but that move has now fallen through.
Mario Yepes has six offers on the table after his contract with Milan came to an end, his agent has confirmed.
The 37-year-old defender is being strongly linked with Atalanta, but Giuliano Terraneo has told TMW that they are not his only admirers.
“There are two other Italian clubs, as well as Atalanta, who would like him,” the representative commented. “There are also a couple of Colombian outfits and a French side as well.
“I’ll see him this week and I think it should all be resolved by Wednesday. I’ve given him a number of options, it is now up to him to make a decision.”
