The winger repeatedly begged to go back ‘home’ to his former club this summer and the Viola insisted he couldn’t go.
He was eventually sold on transfer deadline day, ending nine years away.
At his presentation to the media, Joaquin had a visibly large bandage around his right wrist and forearm.
“Over the last few days there was a lot of tension,” he explained.
“My agent Eduardo Espejo had his phone switched off and it made me lose my temper. So I punched a table, maybe also a chair, and got two small holes in my hand.
“As I’ve never punched anything in my life, it really hurt…”
Joaquin had to interrupt his first training session because of the pain.
“Fortunately there aren’t any big games for a while.”
