Juventus completed signing of Real Madrid striker Morata

Morata, 21, arrived in Turin on Friday night and completed his medical on Saturday.

“I came to this club because it is one of the most historically great in Europe and the world, without doubt the best in Italy,” said the 21-year-old forward who will wear the Number 9.

“I chose Juventus because they chose me and showed interest for such a long time. I can work well here, it’s a magnificent club and I can do well.

“Carlo Ancelotti wished me all the best and said I am going to a great city. He said to enjoy Italy and especially the Italian food!”

According to reports, Real retain the option to buy Morata back for €30 million after the first season and €36 million after the following campaign.

A highly-rated product of the Real youth academy, Morata came to the fore in the 2012-13 season, Jose Mourinho's last at the club as coach, but he was not able to maintain that progress during the last campaign.

Jorge Ordas (Eurosport Spain): We are quite surprised about this transfer because Alvaro Morata will have to fight a lot for playing time. He had other offers in teams where he could have been in the starting XI, but now he will have to fight against the likes of Llorente and Tevez. Juventus is a really interesting destiny for him, a really competitive team where, like in Madrid, he will have to win all the titles every year. Also for Juventus is an interesting transfer because he is a different forward from Llorente. On the other hand, it’s a little bit risky paying €20M for a player with not much experience in La Liga or UCL. If he believes in himself, he could become a really important forward in European football.

Daniele Fantini (Eurosport Italy): Morata is better than Vucinic and Quagliarella, but looks quite similar to Fernando Llorente (as a prospect). Sure, he’s seven years younger so he could be a good addition, but he’s not a player with whom Juventus could make a big step forward. Moreover, Juventus paid €20m for a young player with little experience, a very high and risky price.

Today, it’s quite difficult to draw how Juventus could be next year, because, you know, they’ve just hired a new coach, Massimiliano Allegri. Arturo Vidal and Paul Pogba could both leave this summer: if not, we think that we’ll see a Juventus very similar to last year squad, with Morata to replace Llorente and, maybe, Patrice Evra on the left wing.
