Official: Cagliari sack Zdenek Zeman

Zdenek Zeman has been relieved of his duties as Cagliari coach, the club has confirmed.

Rumours had been growing in recent days that the Czech coach would leave the position after just two wins all season had seen the Isolani drop to 18th in Serie A.

In a statment on its official website, the club confirmed:

“Cagliari Calcio announces that Zdenek Zeman has left as coach of the first team.

“The club would like to thank the coach and all his staff for the work done in recent months with great dedication and professionalism.”

Walter Zenga has been linked with the role, and intimated yesterday that he would not rule out taking over the Sardinian club.
