Eto’o has only recently joined the Blucerchiati, arriving from Premier League side Everton.
Samp were beaten 5-1 by Torino at the weekend, with coach Sinisa Mihajlovic declaring that the squad would be made to do double training sessions as a punishment.
However, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport, after completing the first session, the Cameroonian forward left the training ground without speaking to Mihajlovic.
"I don't know where he's gone and I don't know what the club intends to do," Mihajlovic was quoted as saying in the Gazzetta dello Sport.
"The only thing that is certain is that the player did not give me any explanation; I consider it to be a serious lack of respect to myself and the rest of the team.
"That's the only truth today, the rest is pure fantasy.
"There hasn't been a row with Eto'o, simply because you need two people to have an argument and he has done everything on his own," he added.
"I haven't seen him since the morning training and haven't spoken to him either."
It has been reported Eto'o and Sampdoria could now terminate the contract by mutual consent.
THE VIEW FROM ITALY
We asked our colleagues over at Eurosport Italy for the inside scoop on these reports. Davide Bighiani had this to say:
"Samuel Eto’o had a quarrel with Sinisa Mihajlovic before skipping the afternoon training. Reports say that he regularly trained in the morning (at 10 am), but he refused to do a second session (at 3pm).
"According to Sky, Eto’o left the training facilities and came back to his hotel (the same hotel where Mihajlovic himself stays) in the city centre.
"Sampdoria players attended a video session without him."
