Striker Khouma Babacar scored a last-minute winner as Fiorentina came from behind to beat Inter Milan 2-1 and take an important step in the race for third in Serie A.
In Florence, Borja Valero cancelled out Marcelo Brozovic's opener for Inter and Babacar scored the winner just minutes after coming on, following a harsh second yellow card for Inter's Alex Telles.
The result means La Viola leap back into third in the table - two points clear of Roma - with Inter now four points behind in the race for the final Champions League qualification spot.
Elsewhere, AC Milan beat Genoa 2-1 to remain on the fringes of that race for third.
Carlos Bacca and Keisuke Honda scored the all-important goals for the Rossoneri, with Alessio Cerci's last-minute strike nothing more than a consolation for the visitors.
In the day's other meetings Bologna beat Udinese 1-0, while Torino ran out 3-1 away winners against Palermo.
The final game saw Sampdoria draw 0-0 with Atalanta.
