Mario Balotelli has been told he needs to lose weight and quickly by AC Milan boss Sinisa Mihajlovic.
The Italian, who is on loan from Liverpool, returned to the San Siro this summer after a nightmare season with Brendan Rodgers's side in which he only mustered one Premier League goal.
Balotelli scored on his first game back with the Rossoneri in a friendly win over fourth-tier side Modena, but his boss Mihajlovic says he is not in the right shape physically.
He's not played for a while and he still has to improve," Mihajlovic told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
He's training well and his physical tests are satisfactory, but he's three kilogrammes overweight. He's on a diet and when he's ready he will play."
Milan CEO Adrian Galliani was less concerned by Balotelli's weight issues, however, and said he was excited to see him back in competitive action for the club.
"His fitness is improving, physically he's in a good place and he can do what he wants when he has the ball. Let's hope his goal augurs well for the rest of the season," he said.
"When I see goals like that I get excited."
