During the Serie A match on Sunday against Carpi the home fans held up pictures of the 24-year-old Senegal international and wore masks with his face on them, while others tried to show their support by painting their faces.
Fans group Quelli del Sangue Azzurro were behind the mask appeal. A statement from the organisation read: "Everyone in Naples is offended by what happened to our young star. Because of this, we want to show our full support to Koulibaly."
It came after Wednesday’s game against Lazio – which Napoli won 2-0 – was stopped for three minutes in the second half after racist chants were aimed at Koulibaly. Lazio were later fined £38,250 and will have to shut sections of the Stadio Olimpico for their next two home league games.
