Carlo Ancelotti: I could never manage Barcelona or Atletico Madrid

The Bayern Munich boss – who has managed a spree of European giants including Real Madrid, AC Milan and Juventus – will travel to Atletico in the Champions League group stages.

“No, I would never train Atletico or Barcelona. I respect history and I couldn't do that, any more than I could train Inter or Lazio in Italy, being a Milanista as I am,” he told Marca.

“It's my history and I have to respect it. I hold Atletico and Barcelona in very high esteem, but I could never work with them after having spent two-and-a-half years with Real Madrid.”

Ancelotti has often said he would love to coach Roma one day, having played for the club.
