Juventus full back Dani Alves fractured his leg during Sunday's Serie A match against Genoa, the Italian champions said on their website.
Brazilian Alves, 33, moved to Italian champions Juve this term on a two-year contract after eight seasons with Barcelona.
Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci was substituted due to a thigh injury during the 3-1 loss at Genoa and will undergo tests to determine the extent of the problem.
"Juventus pair Dani Alves and Leonardo Bonucci have undergone preliminary medical examinations after they were withdrawn prematurely from Sunday’s match against Genoa," read a statement on the club's website.
"The former was immediately taken to hospital where it was revealed that the Brazilian had fractured the fibula of his left leg. Bonucci meanwhile was taken off after straining the flexor muscles in his thigh.
"The respective conditions of both players will continue to be monitored in the coming days."
Juve, bidding for a sixth Serie A title in a row, lead the standings by four points from AS Roma and AC Milan.
