The striker returned to training on Thursday after a shoulder injury sustained in training last week and he should be given the green light to feature against the Cod Army.
But Smith may have to settle for a spot on the bench with Andy Williams and Jon Obika having started against Peterborough in his absence.
And Smith is boss Mark Cooper's only injury worry as his in-form outfit look to make it four successive Sky Bet League Two victories.
Jamie Proctor will again be missing through suspension for Fleetwood.
The striker serves the second game of a three-match ban he received after being sent off for raising his hands at Richard Tait in the FA Cup loss at Cambridge.
Boss Graham Alexander is also without long-term injury victims David Ball and Jamille Matt up front.
The manager has hinted he may look to freshen his side up following last week's 1-0 home loss to Walsall, with Antoni Sarcevic a contender to start following a series of substitute appearances.
