Luis Enrique completed his clean sweep of every trophy on offer in Spanish football by leading Barcelona to a 5-0 aggregate win over Sevilla in the Super Copa.
The Catalans were rarely threatened at Camp Nou, taking a 2-0 lead from Sunday’s game into the second leg. Sevilla started well but Arda Turan gave Barca the lead on the night following good link-up play between Lionel Messi and new summer signing Andre Gomes.
Samuel Umtiti gave away a penalty kick, but Vicente Iborra saw his effort from 12 yards saved by Claudio Bravo, who might have made one of his final appearances for Barca before a move to Manchester City.
Turan added a second minutes after the restart, with Messi scoring a header to give his side a comfortable 3-0 lead on the night. Barcelona will now start their league campaign against Real Betis on Saturday with the season now up and running in Spain.

TALKING POINT - Are Barcelona making a mistake by selling Claudio Bravo?

The Chilean is expected to join Pep Guardiola at Manchester City before the close of the summer transfer window, but he demonstrated why he is so highly rated at Barcelona with this performance. He saved a penalty kick to deny Vicente Iborra, but his footwork and play with the ball is why Guardiola wants him so badly at the Etihad Stadium. Is it really wise for Barca to be offloading Bravo?

MAN OF THE MATCH - Arda Turan

He might have been linked with a move away from Camp Nou this summer, but Arda Turan has become a first team figure for Barcelona early on this season. He bagged a brace against Sevilla and impressed throughout, providing answers to those who have questioned his fitness and commitment. Barca will surely hold on to the Turkish international now.

KEY MOMENTS

7’ ON TO THE CROSSBAR! Ben Yedder flicks a header towards the Barcelona goal, with Bravo tipping the effort from the Sevilla striker on to the woodwork. That was a reflex stop!
10’ GOAL! Barcelona 1-0 Sevilla: Against the run of play in the opening 10 minutes, Barcelona have taken the lead. Messi and Gomes combine to set up Turan, who slid a finish beneath Rico.
18’ JUST PAST THE POST! Messi has his first sight of goal this evening, but from just inside the penalty area he flashed his effort just past the near post. He should have scored.
32’ PENALTY KICK TO BARCELONA! The referee decides that Umtiti handled the ball inside the box, despite the protests from the home side.
34’ PENALTY KICK SAVED BY BRAVO! Iborra steps up to the penalty spot, but there wasn't any real conversion in his shot and the Chilean goalkeeper read it, making the stop.
47’ GOAL! Barcelona 2-0 Sevilla: And that should certainly be that. Barcelona press high up the pitch, winning the ball and giving Turan the chance to loop a finish over Rico, who was slightly off his line.
56’ GOAL! Barcelona 3-0 Sevilla: He scores headers as well! Messi was second best to win that, but he got on the end of Digne's cross and finds the far corner of Sevilla's net with the effort.
70’ FIRED OVER THE BAR! Messi fights for the loose ball just inside the Sevilla penalty area and wins it, but he flashes his effort over the crossbar when he should have hit the target.
80’ INJURY PROBLEM! This could be an issue for Mascherano. The Barcelona defender has fallen to the turf with a strain of some kind and the home side will finish this with 10 men.
91’ SO CLOSE TO A FOURTH! That would have been the crowning moment of this win. Messi beat his marker three times on the edge of the box, but he could only curl his finish wide.
