Craig Sibbald grabbed the first of his three goals in the competition this season when he reacted first to finish off on the rebound following a deflected effort from Rory Loy.
FIFTH ROUND - FALKIRK 2 BRECHIN 1
Brechin arrived at Falkirk on a 14-match unbeaten tun but the Bairns were ahead inside 12 minutes through David McCracken's header. City fought back and deservedly equalised through Alan Trouten's penalty but Loy crossed for David Smith to hit a close-range winner in the 79th minute.
QUARTER-FINAL -QUEEN OF THE SOUTH 0 FALKIRK 1
Sibbald glanced home a powerful first-half cross from Luke Leahy to send Falkirk through in a Friday night match which was ruined by strong winds at Palmerston.
SEMI-FINAL -FALKIRK 1 HIBERNIAN 0
Both Fraser Fyvie and Scott Allan hit the woodwork for a dominant Hibs before Sibbald shocked Alan Stubbs' side when he headed home Blair Alston's cross midway through the second half at Hampden. Falkirk goalkeeper Jamie MacDonald continued to repel the Hibs pressure to secure victory for a Bairns side who had a striker shortage.
INVERNESS
FOURTH ROUND REPLAY - INVERNESS 4 ST MIRREN 0
Josh Meekings crashed home a second-half equaliser to cancel out Marc McAusland's early opener to force a replay for Inverness following their trip to Paisley. And in-form Caley Thistle enjoyed a far more comfortable second game as Gary Warren headed a 20th-minute opener before Greg Tansey netted from the spot. Danny Williams netted a rebound after the break and Graeme Shinnie added a late fourth.
FIFTH ROUND - PARTICK 1 INVERNESS 2
Caley Thistle survived late pressure from Partick after a dominant first-half display which yielded goals for Marley Watkins and Tansey inside 27 minutes. Lyle Taylor pulled one back midway through the second half but the Highlanders held on.
QUARTER-FINALS - INVERNESS 1 RAITH ROVERS 0
Defender Danny Devine headed a 63rd-minute winner as Inverness secured a deserved win over the team that knocked Rangers out in the previous round.
SEMI-FINALS - INVERNESS 3 CELTIC 2
Caley Thistle booked their first Scottish Cup final place following a thrilling and controversial win that ended Celtic's treble hopes. Inverness made a bright start but fell behind to Virgil van Dijk's free-kick and were lucky to escape punishment when Meekings handled a Leigh Griffiths header in the goalmouth. The momentum swung Caley Thistle's way after the interval when Craig Gordon was sent off for bringing down Watkins and Tansey converted the penalty. David Raven netted an extra-time winner after Celtic substitute John Guidetti's free-kick had cancelled out Edward Ofere's drive.
