Tony Humes and Jamie Jones nominated for monthly awards

Colchester boss Tony Humes has been nominated for the Manager of the Month award.

The U's, who battled against relegation last season, picked up an impressive 13 points from five games in September, scoring 12 goals in the process.

Burton manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, David Flitcroft at Bury and Southend chief Phil Brown are also in the running for the award, which will be announced on Friday morning.

Goalkeeper Jamie Jones could make it a double celebration for the U's after being nominated for the Player of the Month gong.
