Two games in for Manchester United and Eric Bailly is being compared to Nemanja Vidic already

Eric Bailly has racked up two straight man-of-the-match performances for Manchester United, and the young centre-back is drawing comparisons to Nemanja Vidic already.

While Zlatan Ibrahimovic will still the headlines after a debut goal in United’s 3-1 win over Bournemouth, Bailly looked assured at the back alongside Daley Blind.

One Community Shield victory and a win on the south coast does not make you a United legend quite yet, but it didn’t stop the comparisons from flooding in.

Vidic built a formidable defensive partnership with Rio Ferdinand, and won five Premier League titles with United as well as the Champions League in 2008.

It is clearly too early to draw parallels, but Bailly has displayed a maturity beyond his years in the red of United.

The future partnership with Chris Smalling is yet to truly commence, but Bailly’s performances with Blind have left some United fans wondering…
