Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney says he has “lots of offers on the table” and has “more or less” decided whether he will leave Old Trafford this summer.

The striker, who was left out of Gareth Southgate’s England squad on Thursday, has been a peripheral figure at United.
The 31-year-old came off the bench in United’s Europa League final victory over Ajax on Wednesday, while he started just 15 Premier League games this season – making another ten as a substitute.
Rooney has been linked with moves to both China and the US, while a return to Everton has also been mooted.
“There are lots of offers on the table, both in England and abroad, and that’s what I have to decide on,” Rooney said.
“I’ve got some decisions to make now over the next few weeks so I will talk with my family and then I’ll decide
“I think I have to make a decision in terms of a football decision, and that’s what I’ll do, I’ll do that the next few weeks with my family while I’m away and as soon as I know what’s going on I’m sure you will.”
When asked if he had made up his mind, Rooney replied: “More or less, yes.
“I still believe I could [play every game]. If you’re asking me if I’m a better player now than I was 10 years ago then obviously I’m not but I still feel I’ve got other qualities that can help the team.”

OUR VIEW

It’s time for Rooney to move on. He has been a valiant servant at Old Trafford – with enough trophies to fill multiple cabinets – but a new challenge is needed.
The omission from the England squad, plus Gareth Southgate’s indication that his international career is far from over, is an obvious reason why Rooney must search elsewhere for first-team football.
He would have to accept a step down in stature of the club he joins, but it’s difficult to see Rooney making a big-money move abroad. The Liverpool-born striker has called the north west home all his life – no matter how many 0s Chinese clubs will write on to their proposals, the idea of Wayne’s world shifting to the far east seems rather far-fetched.
