Well, no doubt at all the Northern Ireland will take that. No, they've not got a choice, but yes, given how they played and how Czech Republic played, plus the likely manner in which Group C will proceed, they've done very nicely indeed.

Thanks all for reading - don't you go changing.

90+4'

FULL-TIME: CZECH REPUBLIC 0-0 NORTHERN IRELAND

90+3'

Yet again, Kadelabek goes down the right and crosses dangerously ... and yet again, there's Evans charging into a wahey of a header that thunks the ball clear. What a game he's had.

90+1'

Kadelabek goes down the right and crosses for Kopic - the ball is about knee height, and he does pretty well to get over it, connecting with his laces, but still can't keep it down.

90'

There shall be four added minutes.

89'

Czech Republic probe, taking the ball across the face of the box from left to right. Then Darida, who's been good this half, slides a straight ball down the side of McAuley for Krejci, who turns beautifully, conjuring space for a shot ... which he drags wide of the near post.

87'

NI have not played at all well, but a draw here, against their principal rivals for second spot behind Germany, would be a very handy result.

85'

Another corner from the Czech right, which Darida hits towards the front post - it flicks off McAuley's head, Evans can't quite get to it, and then from just outside the box, left hand side, Novak - he of the missed sitter - larrups a slice wide.

84'

Magennis and McNair exchange passes at inside-right and Magennis darts towards the near post, so McNair hoofs one way past the back, cunningly deceiving everyone.

84'
83'

Final shy for Czech Republic: Vydra replaces Vaclav Kadlec.

81'

Davis scythes through midfield, so Pavelka scythes through him. He's booked.

79'

Beofre the game, Steve Lomas was discussing the absence of Craig Cathcart, and how he is a superior centre-back to Jonny Evans. Frankly, this is absolute nonsense. Evans makes errors, has very intense nightmares, but has also dominated some of the best strikers in the world.

77'

Change for the Czechs: Kopic on for Skalak.

76'

Superb from Evans again! Kadlec crosses superbly from the left and Skalak is on the scene as Hodson misses with his tackle. So Skalak draws back his foot to shoot, just eight yards out, but Evans flings himself in it the road to block.

75'

These last few minutes have been better for NI - they're passing the ball with a more conviction and composure.

75'

Final change for NI: McGinn replaces Ward.

73'

The Czech defence do not like crosses, and Ward hits one from the right, looking for Dallas at the back post. He's up well too, nodding across for Davis, but the ball won't quite drop.

71'

NI are back under the pump, and here comes another long throw from Kaderabek. BuMcNair can't quite head it away at the near post, the ball bounces, and a kerfuffle ensures. Pavelka looks to bring it down as Evans closes in, but it clips his hand and the ref gives a free-kick.

70'
68'

Necid replaces Skoda. Surprised he lasted so long - 68 minutes has to be some sort of record. Ooh hoo hoo.

66'

A second change for NI: Hodson comes on at left-back, replacing Ferguson.

64'

What a miss that was; dearie me. In the meantime, Magennis has energised Northern Ireland in attack.

62'

This is quite spectacular! The ball comes into the Northern Ireland box following a thrown, and suddenly it bounces into the middle as McAuley slides and can't reach it. Novak is in front of goal, no one near him, and six yards out, so he allows himself time to set, then lashes a left-footer wide. What a miss that is!

61'

Fantastic play from Dallas down the left, who nips inside Kaderabek and whips a venomous cross into the box which only just eludes Ward and Magennis. That's easily Northern Ireland's best moment off the half; can they build on it?

59'

Change for Northern Ireland: Magennis replaces Lafferty.

59'

Back down the left, Ward hurls himself at Krejci and is booked.

58'

Now down the right, Skalak looks to be in space - until Jonny Evans appears out of nowhere and gently relieves yerman of the ball. Great defending.

58'

Pressure is building. Again, Krejci goes down the left and crosses dangerously, but Mcauley heads away.

57'

Czech Republic's quality is beginning to show.

55'

Oh, this is lovely. A great reverse ball from Darida freed Krejci down the left, and with everyone expecting a cross, he fooled the defenders a second time, cutting back for Vaclav Kadlec. On the edge of the box, he had two options: put his foot through it, or place one. He tried to place one, but his it straight at the keeper.

53'

Kaderabek charges in and leaps into a kick that Norwood has two hopes of getting out the way of. NI ball, 45 yards out, and Norwood slides it long and left for Davis, who's pulled out of the middle. He crosses flat to the back post, but someone strayed offside.

52'

"Lovely touch Gareth McAuley, there was a lot of experience in that one."

Er, how much, Gerry.

52'

Is there any more reason to call Czech Republic "The Czech Republic" than there is to call Northern Ireland "The Northern Ireland"?

50'

NI have yet to warm up this half. It's been all Czech Republic.

48'

Skalak runs at the heart of the NI defence and races through Evans, who does more or less nothing to stop him. But Ferguson slides in from the left and then when Krejci looks to centre, McLaughlin slides in from the right, so that when the ball comes across, Skoda can't quite reach it.

47'

Vaclik dithers on the ball and Davis, who's leaving it all out there, picks a great time to press - the keeper looks relieved to funnel it away.

46'

Skalak lifts the ball over Ward beautifully, but Ferguson is there to stop him. He - and McLaughlin on the other side - have done very well so far.

46'

And away we go again.

20:44
20:40

Elsewhere in your Europes, Scpt;and are drawing 1-1 with Malta while, also in this group, Germany are 2-0-up in Norway.

20:38

Lomas is more realistic about that Norwood challenge - he did well to get away with yellow and actually, shortly afterwards, slid in late on Krejci.

20:36

Says a man who knows what winning looks like.

20:35

Steve Lomas is in the studio.

20:31

So, neither side will be too disappointed with that. Czech Republic are better, and will expect to prove it in the second half; on the other hand, Michael McGovern has yet to make a save, and Northern Ireland look dangerous on the break.

20:31

HALF-TIME: CZECH REPUBLIC 0-0 NORTHERN IRELAND

43'

Oh my! Czech Republic force another corner down the right, it's cleared, and suddenly it's Davis nashing through the middle from his own penalty box - he's one on one. Just behind him, Dallas is running like billy-o to keep up, and he tries the square ball, but Darida has done brilliantly to get back, and he tackles.

42'

Great block by Ferguson to deflect a cross behind for a corner, and up come the big boys again. This time, Darida offers himself short - of course he does - and eventually the ball comes in from the edge of the box, looking for Skoda. But McAuley is up earliest, and he prangs it away easily enough.

40'

Darida fancies himself alright. He takes possession 35 yards out, sashays forwards, and unloads an expansive drive that sails higher than the sun and wider than a shellsuit.

39'

And one more. Football is beautiful.

38'

Nothing to do with this and everything to do with this: Uganda are back at the Africa Cup of Nations for the first time in 39 years.

37'

And immediately afterwards, the Czechs win a free-kick down the left. Suchy and Michal Kadlec trot forwards, then Darida promptly clips it at the first man.

36'

Novak takes a thrown down the left and drops the ball from halfway up his head. No foul throw say the officials. Disgraceful.

35'
34'

Darida cuts across the face of the NI box from left to right and unleashes a shot - it's on target, but hits McNair about three yards away.

33'

Next time, he's going to go for red.

31'

Norwood slides in on Pavelka and catches his ankle with vertical studs. For this, he is justifiably booked; Gerry Armstrong treats his infraction with understandable benevolence.

29'

But this is much better! McLaughlin dashes into a a chellenge, robbing Krejci as he waits for the ball. Immediately, he slides it into the stride of McNair, marauding through midfield, and he strikes a left-footer that's not bad, but isn't quite clean - it lopes towards goal, but Vaclik saves easily enough.

28'

Ward goes down the right and crosses; Lafferty excecutes an overhead kick, with hilarious consequences!

27'

Northern Ireland have been better these last ten minutes or so, and for sure they'd happily head home with the 0-0. But it might get better than that! Davis anticipates a stray pass and they break 3 on 2. He sends the ball square and right, to Lafferty nashing down the right, but the return simply picks out Suchy.

26'
25'

Lafferty slides in on Skalak very late indeed. Gerry Armstrong views this offence very benevolently indeed.

23'

Hi again -- apologies for that aggravation. We're now back, and the Czechs have had easily the better of the game so far.

19:27

So, er ... private and intimate...

19:22

So, will we see the Czech Republic that took on Spain and Croatia, on the one which subsided to Turkey? Will we see the doughty, determined Northern Ireland, or the doughty, determined Northern Ireland?
