Figo announced his candidacy on Wednesday, saying "I care about football, so what I'm seeing regarding the image of FIFA - not only now but in the past years -- I don't like it."
And the Chelsea boss believes the former Sporting Lisbon, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Inter midfielder would do a great job as head of world football’s governing body, while at the same time it would be “a great step for football”.
“I believe in his character and determination, as well as his passion for this sport,” the Portuguese was quoted as saying by Sport.
“He would be a president who focused on football and its improvement in general, as well as working in close collaboration with all the federations.”
"If you search FIFA on the internet you see the first word that comes out: scandal - not positive words. It's that we have to change first and try to improve the image of FIFA. Football deserves much better than this."
