Lewis Hamilton won the Austrian Grand Prix in the final lap - after a collision with his team-mate and rival Nico Rosberg. Carrie Dunn looks at the action.

WHERE THE RACE WAS WON

The final lap. That dubious error of judgement from race leader Nico Rosberg, suffering a brake problem and refusing to turn, lost him the race - it damaged his car, bits of carbon fibre flying everywhere, and riled up Lewis Hamilton. Neither is a good way to approach motor-racing. Rosberg defended himself and blamed his team-mate; Hamilton did the opposite.
The powers-that-be eventually gave their judgement - it was indeed Rosberg's fault.
Meanwhile, team boss Toto Wolff was livid, and threatened to put team orders in place if they couldn't be trusted not to crash into each other.
And Hamilton was welcomed on to the podium with some hearty boos from a partisan crowd. All in all, a bit of a shambles all round.

HAMILTON-WATCH

Four stars out of five. He never gave up, even as his tyres were falling apart on a one-stop strategy that got revised, and even in the closing seconds, and that was what gave him the opportunity to get past his team-mate.

PIT RADIO EXCHANGE

"He changed direction! He is changing direction, like, five times!" shouted Pascal Wehrlein as Kevin Magnussen went past him.
"We'll get on to Charlie [Whiting]," his team reassured him.

MOVE OF THE RACE

Kimi Raikkonen was incredibly patient all afternoon, sitting close on Daniel Ricciardo's shoulder, and finally slotting into fourth place 13 laps from the end. His positioning was exceptional during the race - even if he was disappointed that he didn't manage to make a move for the lead.

BEST OVERTAKE

Lots of great and competitive driving today. This nod goes a little way down the pack, to the beautiful work from Esteban Gutierrez on the 12th lap, moving through marvellously on the Williams of Felipe Massa.

TACTICAL MASTERSTROKE

Difficult to assess strategy after the safety car spells played havoc with what was planned, but ironically what looked like terrible tactics for Hamilton - leaving him stranded at the front of the field on ultra-softs for a third of the race, then messing up his pit stop - ended up winning him the race, giving him something to chase.
"Why is he on a softer tyre than me?" Hamilton had complained 14 laps from the end, overlooking the fact that he knew what tyres they'd brought to the race. He was reassured that the team knew what they were doing - and, perhaps, so it proved, as Rosberg's tyres started to wear out, although Hamilton will no doubt say that it was his driving that got the win.
Let's give some kudos to Red Bull, on their home circuit - Max Verstappen stayed out of trouble and avoided debris from the rest of the field, a trio of pit stops taking him round and into second place.

UNSUNG HERO

Yes, Jenson Button did a fantastic job getting that McLaren-Honda so high up - but look at Pascal Wehrlein! He got Manor a point as he finished tenth - their first point ever.

FACEPALM OF THE WEEKEND

Sebastian Vettel left the race as his tyres simply gave up the ghost - a huge bang as the right rear just exploded.
After the previous night's clash between Germany and Italy in the Euros finished on penalties, some wondered whether it was the defeated nation's vengeance on the victors.
Not the best way to mark turning 29.

STAR-SPOTTING

George Lucas of Star Wars fame has been lurking all weekend.
And there simply weren't enough film buff jokes about the race taking place in Spielberg, for my liking.
