It is understood Formula 2 and GP3 practice will be moved from Friday to help space out a packed schedule.
Once the new timetable is finalised Silverstone intends to put special Thursday tickets on sale, while allowing access for all weekend ticket holders.
The move is not unprecedented, with the Australian Grand Prix featuring activity over four days for many years - including non-champion Supercars track action - while GP2 has run a practice session on Thursday in Malaysia.
"We are working with Formula 1 and the FIA to try and make this happen," a spokesperson for the venue told Autosport.
"But it has not been absolutely confirmed yet. I understand that F1 are to release the Silverstone timetable imminently, and that this will give us the final confirmation of Thursday activity.
"If this is confirmed we will open up the Thursday afternoon of the event to all weekend ticket holders, but also will be selling a separate ticket for Thursday that will include access to the Travis concert in the evening."
