Round nine of the world championship takes place at the Red Bull Ring. But ironically this isn't a circuit where Red Bull tend to perform well - despite the fact they share the same owners...

Team to watch: Williams

  • The Red Bull Ring has everything the FW38 likes. Its long acceleration zones are perfect for the car which set a new all-time record for highest top speed at the last race weekend - an eye-watering 378kph (234.9mph).
  • The team has great form at this track since F1 returned to the Red Bull Ring two years ago. Valtteri Bottas was on the podium in 2014 and Felipe Massa did the same last year. The pair even ejected Mercedes from their usual positions on the front row of the grid at this track two years ago.
  • Their rivals, including points leader Nico Rosberg, are also expecting a strong performance. "It'll be tough against the Williams cars in particular, as they've pushed us hard there before," he admitted ahead of this weekend's race.
  • Williams have one final ace up their sleeves. Their crack pit stop squad have set the quickest time for a four-wheel tyre change at every race so far this year. Last time out Massa was stationary for just 1.92 seconds while his tyres were changed. This could give them a vital strategic edge.
  • The Red Bull Ring has been extensively re-surfaced since last year and early indications are it may now be harder on tyres meaning more pit stops than recent races.

Also on the radar: Ferrari

  • Second place for Sebastian Vettel in Azerbaijan meant the gap between him and Rosberg opened up but he has moved within striking distance of second-placed Lewis Hamilton.
  • There's been a tendency to talk down Ferrari's efforts lately but Vettel has made five visits to the podium this year - that's as many as each of the Mercedes drivers.

  • What the team is missing is a victory. Equipped with their upgraded turbo and back on the ultra-soft tyres which they have performed well on, Austria should be a circuit where they can re-establish themselves as a threat to Mercedes. Depending, of course, on how strong Williams are.

Grosjean seeking points return

After a giant-killing start to the season, with fifth and sixth places in the opening rounds, Romain Grosjean and new team Haas have been out of the points for the last four races..
Formula One's unusual tyres have been pinpointed as the problem. While they worked well in qualifying at the last round, during the race Haas slipped back.
Team principal Guenther Steiner believes they may have solved the issue: "The knowledge from past events will definitely help us out with how we will use the tyres at Austria."
