James 'Woodsy' Woods is one of Team GB's most charismatic athletes and a real medal contender in the freestyle skiing in PyeongChang 2018.

  • Name - James Woods
  • Date of Birth - 19/01/1992
  • Place of Birth - Sheffield, UK
  • Sport/Discipline: Freestyle Skiing (slopestyle)
  • Honours - World Championships: Silver x1, Bronze x1; X Games: Gold x1, Bronze x1; World Cup: Gold x1

Woods, 25, harboured similar hopes in the build-up to the Sochi Games in 2014 but suffered a hip injury during a training session for the competition.
He competed in the slopestyle in Russia but was hampered by the injury, coming a very creditable fifth.
The Sheffield-born freestyle skier enjoyed a highly productive 2016-17 season, claiming gold in the big air discipline at the X Games in Aspen in January 2017 and then bronze in the slopestyle at the World Championships in March 2017.
He is a multiple British champion and won the Freestyle Skiing World Cup title for slopestyle in 2013.
Big air is not a Winter Olympic discipline but Woodsy is targeting gold in the slopestyle - and has a good shot at it. Reflecting on the trauma of Sochi, Woods told the Telegraph in August:
Skiing the event was awful. I had a lot of pain and everyone on Team GB worked really hard to get me to a level where I could compete. I was proud as can be to represent the UK and do my bit, but there is a lot left to prove and I’m going to take that into PyeongChang.
