The 23rd edition of the Handball World Championships will be held in Spain for the first time in history.
The cities of Madrid, Seville, Granollers, Guadalajara, Zaragoza and Barcelona will welcome the 24 best national teams on the planet. Throughout the tournament, 84 games will be played and the public will be able to attend for as little as 15 euros per day (which will include all three games played at one stadium during the opening phase).
It is without doubt an incredible opportunity to see the best handball on the planet. Karabatic, Nagy, Aguinagalde, Narcisse, Sterbik and Abalo are just some of the stars looking to light up this edition of the tournament. Among the favourites to lift the trophy will be France, winners of the last two championships (2009 and 2011), the current Olympic and European champions Denmark, Croatia and Spain, who would love to lift the trophy for the second time in front of their own fans.
All the build-up to the tournament can be found on the tournament’s official website; www.handballspain2013.com, which will be updated thoroughly throughout the tournament in a manner never witnessed before in handball. Besides all the information about the competing nations (players, news, fixtures, reports), the official site will feature a minute-by-minute guide to each game so fans will not miss any of the action. The website will also feature a catalogue of reports on previous tournaments, where fans can relive the moments and players that have made history in the sport.
Another key component of this tournament is its use of technology, not only through social networking sites (Facebook, Twitter) but also its use of apps. Through these apps, users are able to submit content (videos, photos, audio, blogs) in an area of the website reserved specifically for fans, giving them the opportunity to follow the tournament from the inside.
