Germany have received an injury boost ahead of the World Handball Championship with the news that goalkeeper Henning Fritz is making good progress on his recovery from injury.
Just ten days before their opening match against Brazil in Berlin, coach Heiner Brand declared Fritz was "is on the way back and moving very well in training."
While only third-choice at his club side Kiel, Brand again spoke of the importance of getting his number one back fit.
"Under normal conditions, Henning Fritz is my clear number one," Brand said. "I hope that he proves his fitness this week or next. If not, I must react."
Brand received more good news this week when a scan revealed Torsten Jansen did not suffer a thigh muscle tear during the second friendly against Hungary.
However, Jansen will be required to miss a few day's training, placing his participation in the January 13 friendly against Egypt in doubt.
