Harry Redknapp's Moviesta claims King George Stakes at Goodwood

It completes a hat-trick of wins for football personalities this week after triumphs for Alex Ferguson's Magic City and Michael Owen's Brown Panther.

Paul Mulrennan rode trainer Bryan Smart’s 5/1 shot to victory over five furlongs with William Buick guiding Swiss Spirit (6/1) to an impressive second in the Group Two race.

Roger Varian's outsider Justineo (40/1) was just behind him in third.

"He's improving all the time, fair play to Bryan and all the staff, they've done a good job with him,” Mulrennan said.

"He's been unlucky the last twice and he's deserved to win a couple of pots. He's only three, this horse.

"He was like a missile the other morning when I worked him, he's very good and improving all the time so hopefully he will be a Group One horse."

Smart was even more effusive in his praise of the gelding, labelling him a “superstar”.

"We've always known he's a good horse, we've taught him to settle at home. He's never settled in a race yet - even at Newmarket he still didn't settle 100 per cent,” he said.

“Once he's come, his speed was amazing. He's a three-year-old, what could he be?

"The Stewards' Cup was the aim, he was 6lb well-in and he'll never have that weight again, but we knew he wouldn't get in and I told the BHA I would declare for both races.

“This is a real superstar of a horse - I told Harry that when he was a two-year-old but (the horse) was a little bit stupid and the pegs kept falling out.

"He's in the Nunthorpe, but we'll let the horse do the talking. I don't want to wish my life away, but next year I think we'll have something on our hands."

Mulrennan will appeal a six-day ban issued by stewards after the race for "drifting continuously left without taking corrective action".
