Tattersall took victory and her share of the £400,000 prize money for the series when she finished fourth on Chico Bella P at Blenheim Palace International, the seventh and final leg.
The 32-year-old made history from the outset, becoming the first female rider to win a leg of the competition when she and Quicklook V finished first at the Chatsworth International in May.
On the fifth leg, The Festival of British Eventing at Gatcombe Park, Tattersall recorded the fastest cross-country time, with just 1.2 time penalties, to be crowned the victor once more, this time with Arctic Soul.
To have had such success with three different horses is a particularly impressive achievement and Tattersall was full of pride after she was crowned series champion.
“I have enjoyed the pressure that the series has created and embraced it,” she said.
“Since I left school at 16 I have been working toward this and it’s exciting to have so many horses able to compete at this level.”
Fellow Brit Sarah Cohen finished second in the series after securing top-ten finishes in five of the seven legs.
Cohen won the second leg at Wiesbaden, Germany, and did well to hold on to second place after withdrawing from the cross-country round at Blenheim.
The British riders’ accomplishments are all the more amazing given that they kept double Olympic champion and FEI rider of the 20th century Sir Mark Todd off the top spot and the New Zealander was forced to settle for third place.
