Crutchley and co were looking to get back to winning ways as they saw their hopes of a medal go up in smoke thanks to a 2-0 defeat to Germany in their quarter-final.
However, despite going a goal up thanks to Ashley Jackson's penalty stroke, England could not hold on and two Gonzalo Peillat strikes saw Argentina to a 2-1 victory.
There was some solace for England as man of the match went to Argentina's goalkeeper Juan Vivaldi as Crutchley’s side had six shots on goal from open play compared to just one from their opponents.
England will now face off against Belgium to avoid finishing in last place and Crutchley believes more composure in front of goal will see them do exactly that.
"In games like these you have to take your chances and I'm obviously really disappointed with the result," Crutchley said.
"But we are now in a position where we are dominating games and I think it's clear how much progress we’ve made over the year and since our last encounter with Argentina in the summer.
"It's now important that we rest and recover for our final game against Belgium tomorrow."
