Ascot-born Meyers made his Great Britain debut at the 2004 World Championship in Oslo, Norway, having come through the junior ranks.
His first goal came in the final game of that Division 1A tournament and he went on to score a further six goals and provide 12 assists during a 12-year career which included 59 caps for Great Britain.
The former Nottingham Panthers and Sheffield Steelers player's last Great Britain game was the international friendly with Norway at Cardiff's Ice Arena Wales, earlier this month.
Guildford Flames' Meyers said: "I think anyone who knows me will know just how much playing for Great Britain has meant to me.
"Having captained the GB Under-16s, Under-18s and Under-20s, playing for the senior team was better than I ever could imagine.
"From my first cap to my first goal and, of course, that magical tournament in the Ukraine where we were so close to Pool A promotion, wearing the shirt has always been my proudest moment as a hockey player.
"The Great Britain team has always had a special team spirit and we often over-achieved with our limited resources compared to the other nations.
"I wish the boys nothing but success for the future and I hope their hard work and commitment gets the rewards they deserve.
"Finally, to the GB supporters who are always there for the team and their never-ending singing. Thank you for all your support."
