Erik Karlsson and Mark Stone each had a goal and an assist as the Ottawa Senators advanced to the Eastern Conference finals for the first time since 2007 with a 4-2 victory against the New York Rangers on Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden.

The Senators won the best-of-seven series 4-2.

Mike Hoffman also scored for the Senators, who will meet the Washington Capitals or Pittsburgh Penguins in the Eastern Conference finals. Jean-Gabriel Pageau scored his sixth goal of the series into an empty net with 6.2 seconds remaining.

Goaltender Craig Anderson made 37 saves for his eighth win of the playoffs.

Mika Zibanejad and Chris Kreider scored for the Rangers, who received 22 saves from Henrik Lundqvist.
